  • Dear Shell,

Mold and Mildew on the drywall of an upstairs bathroom wall. How do I get rid of it? How do I keep it from coming back? The bathroom has 3 large windows, one that opens wide and a very good fan - so lots of light and ventilation. Can't figure out how it got there in the first place.

    Thanks, Jack

    Dear Jack,

Unfortunately you have all the right things but you are not using them to their fullest benefits. First, always leave the window open slightly. Secondly, buy a timer for the bathroom fan so that it remains on for 1 hour minimum after you leave the bathroom. It also a good idea to towel or squeegee the shower down after every use. Also leave the bathroom door open when it is not in use.

    It’s just that easy.
