- Laminate flooring or carpet?

Dear Shell,

Which would increase the value of our home more? I want to put laminate flooring in the entrance, living room, dining room and kitchen but my husband wants to put carpet in the living room and linoleum in the entrance, dining room and kitchen. It's a very small space and I think all of the same flooring would make it look bigger.

You are on the right track! Having the same flooring throughout definitely does make space look larger. As for value everyone has had carpet or vinyl at one time or another but not everyone has had wood laminate flooring. Wood floors are very popular right now.
