  • Dear Shell,

Some time ago on one of your shows I believe you stated that to kill and remove moss from asphalt shingles a person could spray the affected area with copper sulphate. Is there a product already available and where could I find it?

    Thanks, Reg

    Dear Reg,

Mix two pounds Zinc sulphate into 5 gallons warm water. Apply to the roof at 100 square feet per gallon. Apply to a damp roof preferably in the evening. The above mixture will do about 500 square feet. Zinc sulphate is available from farm supply outlets. After 3 – 4 weeks rake up the moss with a bamboo finger rake.

    It’s just that easy.
