- Building a no-maintenance deck

Dear Shell,

We want to build a no-maintenance deck. Are you familiar with a product called Nexwood and would you recommend it? Any other recommendations?

Dear Laurie,

Nexwood composite decking is a good choice if you install your joists at 12” O.C. and use Deckster Strips on top of the joists. Screw down from the bottom. Allow for expansion and contraction at butt ends. Look into Timbertech as well; both are good choices for low maintenance decks.
