  • Dear Shell,

I have just had a heat pump installed. The compressor unit is on a flat roof above my living area. The noise outside is moderate. Unfortunately, structural vibration is causing a loud noise inside the living area. Do you have any suggestions on how to alleviate this noise ? At present, the unit is on a 1" slab of concrete on top of some styrofoam. It has been suggested to use springs and rubber mats. I am unable to find a source of springs and also I am not sure of what type of spring I need. Can you help?

    Thanks, Ed

    Dear Ed,

The first rule of mounting anything on a roof or under a floor joist system is to break the solid mounting fix. This is a job for S.I.S. (Specialty Interior Systems). Call 1-800-665 0608 and ask them about their product Neutra-Phone

    It’s just that easy.
