- Odor problems in the house resulting from high humidity

Dear Shell,

I have an HRV, electronic air cleaner, and a forced air furnace. I run the units throughout the summer with the HRV set at 50% and the furnace fan at continuous. Even with this constant air exchange the house smells musty, particularly after a rain when humidity is high. I have no water in the basement. The basement is approx. 4 feet below ground level. There is one finished bedroom, but the rest is bare cement. Is there anything else I can do to improve the air quality?

Thanks, Mitch

Dear Mitch,

You have all the great options in your home servicing the upper living cavity only, not the basement. Consider installing a basement Humidex system available in Winnipeg please call 1-800-416-9111 for local dealer. They will send you a brochure to explain the importance of basement venting 365 days a year getting rid of musty basement odours.

It's just that easy.
