  • Dear Shell,

I have paint problem...I went to the hardware store and told them I was painting latex over oil base paint in my kitchen. They gave me a can of water-based primer called Prime It, and a can of kitchen and bath latex paint. I followed the instructions, and the paint peels every time you touch it. It has been a week since I painted, what do I do now? The hardware store told me I had to scrape off all the paint, is this true?

    Thank you, Shane

    Dear Shane,

Your problem has likely been caused by poor preparation of the original wall surface. My advice at this point would be to apply a water-based urethane satin finish over your current wall finish. Some companies call this Kitchen and Bath Paint.

    It’s Just That Easy
