  • Dear Shell;

    We have a small bathroom with ceramic tiles on the floor. Is it advisable to retile on top of the existing old tiles? The old tiles a have shiny finish. Would this require any special preparation?

    Thanks, Richard

    Dear Richard,

    As long as you can be satisfied with the extra thickness on the floor, "Yes" it can be done. First Muriatic Acid wash your tiles and rinse well (follow safety instructions). Apply a "Non Fracture" Membrane over old tile using thin set mortar adhesive and allow to cure. Apply thin set mortar adhesive over Non Fracture Membrane. Lay tile using setting mortar.

    It's just that easy.
