  • Dear Shell,

We had our driveway paved a couple of years ago and the contractor at the time said we shouldn't seal it because it needed to breathe. Is this correct? If not what product would you suggest?

    Thanks, Dot

    Dear Dot,

    1. Never seal asphalt the first year. Let the product cure and harden.

    2. In the 2 nd or 3 rd year apply Cold Tar Sealer with a squeegee and roll smooth with a 50mm fabric roller. (This should last 3 to 4 years)

    3. The 2 nd coating should be Acrylic Latex. Apply by pouring onto surface and spreading with 50mm fabric roller.

    It’s just that easy.
