  • Dear Shell,

We live in a home that is built slab on grade. We have radiant heat with a gas boiler. We have carpeting throughout the house. We also have a Life Breath heat recovery ventilator (HRVs) and a Life Breath TFP air cleaner system in our home. Our problem is static electricity throughout the house. The humidity is 40% and the temperature is 72 °F. We were wondering if there is anything we could do to alleviate this problem.

    Thanks, Bob

    Dear Bob,

    1. I question your humidity level at 40%.

    2. I suggest you purchase a new humidity indicator to assure a correct reading.

    3. Consider a furnace mounted humidifier such as the Desert Spring model call 1-888-486-4324 for information on availability. You should maintain a level of 50% relative humidity in your home at all times especially with an HRV control.

    It’s just that easy.
